Our Family Plays Games, LLC is an African American family-owned business that is on a mission to promote growth and awareness, while fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity in the modern board game hobby.
They launched on social media in 2018 which helped them establish themselves in the hobby. In January 2020, they started posting videos on YouTube and by June 2020 were featured on Good Morning America. Since then, they have been featured on several programs and in publications, such as - NBC News Online, Senet Magazine (UK), Ligadas.com (Brazil), a variety of YouTube programs, podcasts, and on local television in Omaha, NE.
In January of 2022, they launched a second program on their channel, called OFPG Voices to highlight other underrepresented voices in the hobby. This program has a diverse group of content creators, many of whom host their own channels on various platforms, but enjoy the additional exposure they receive by sharing their time and talent with the Our Family Plays Games audience.
Mik, Starla & Grant make special appearances, host panels and conduct D&I seminars at board game conventions and other events around the country. They also work with board game publishers and other businesses from all around the world.
Our Family Plays Games, LLC believes that board games are more than just a pastime - they're a way to connect with others, learn new skills, and most importantly, just have fun. From day one, our goal has been to bring more BIPOC’s and families into the board game hobby and that is what we have continued to do. We have expanded our mission to include all marginalized voices including those from the LGBTQ+ community.
We believe that regardless of who you are, where you come from or what you do, you have a place in this hobby, be it playing games, creating games, and/or publishing games. What you contribute to this wonderful hobby matters and we appreciate all of you!
